Dunblane Project

A new pale yellow front door with a decorative glass panel, black hardware and tan shingle siding.
Typical of 1960s builds, this house was very compartmentalized. It had restricted space and lacked a cohesive flow. By removing two load-bearing walls, we were able to transform this closed-off home into a vibrant, open and functional space.
Location
St. Catharines
Type of project
Main floor remodel

Dunblane Project

The front entrance before the work, with a worn blue door, patterned floor tiles and a grey hallway.
Before

We gave their front entrance an overhaul.

After

This bright pop of color perfectly matches our client's personality.

The old kitchen, with plain white cabinets, a grey countertop, a double sink and a white dishwasher.
Before

Their old kitchen was basic and missing that wow factor.

The old kitchen before, with white cabinets, a scalloped valance over the window and a patterned floor.
Before

This kitchen hadn't seen an upgrade since it was originally built.

The old sink corner before, with a double basin, grey countertop, open white shelves and a patterned floor.
Before

How can we give this sink a modern touch?

A white range hood over a black smooth-top stove and glossy white wall tile, with the blue island at left.

Subway tiles are always a great choice for a beautiful backsplash.

The finished kitchen: a white range hood over the stove, white tile backsplash, black sink and white cabinets.
After

Now this kitchen is a dream come true for any foodie.

The finished kitchen's silver French-door fridge, built into tall white cabinets with black handles.
After

The space created by tearing out a wall made a more cohesive kitchen and room for bigger appliances.

A wide white island countertop with soft grey veins, looking toward the finished stove wall and windows.
After

The new countertops are a massive upgrade from their original ones.

Two black wire-frame pendant lights with exposed bulbs hang over the island, with the white range hood beyond.
After

These industrial design lights create a soft, warm glow above the kitchen island.

A black pull-down faucet with a coiled spring neck over a black sink, beside a large window.
After

Matte black fixtures instantly upgrade a kitchen.

The blue island's corner, with a glass-door beverage cooler full of drinks, a microwave and black-handled drawers.
After

An island with a built-in fridge and microwave makes it super easy to have a central place for social gathering.

The curved white range hood up close, against glossy white wall tiles with a utensil holder below.
After

This hood range is both functional AND a stunning focal point.

The main floor before: a grey hallway beside an arched opening into a bright room with wood floors.
Before

To create a bigger kitchen, we removed this wall which awkwardly divided their main floor.

A yellow-walled room during demolition, with one wall open to bare studs and the old flooring torn up.
During

Our clients wanted this room to be utilized as a part of their kitchen.

The dividing wall stripped to its wood studs during demolition, with the old floorboards exposed.
During

Removing this wall to give new life to an unused room.

The finished open space with a large L-shaped blue island, white countertop and two black wire pendants above.
After

The clients now have a huge dining area perfect for entertaining.

The pantry before: an empty closet with grey marbled shelves and a white organizer on the door.
Before

The clients wanted a modern pantry where they have organized and easily accessible storage.

Pull-out wood shelves stocked with food inside a tall white cabinet beside the silver fridge.
After

These custom slide-out drawers are the perfect storage solution.

The dining room before: grey walls, a bowl pendant light, wood floor and a patio door with blinds.
Before

This room never gets used because it's closed off from the rest of the main floor.

The open dining and kitchen area after, with a long blue island under two black wire pendant lights.
After
